Our Story
I created Full Heart Home Care nine years after a sudden illness very nearly took my life at age 28. Until that time, I’d been a perfectly healthy, stubbornly independent professional pursuing a marketing career in New Jersey. One day I had what I thought was bronchitis, and a few days later I was in the ICU with end stage heart failure. I remained in the hospital for four weeks before joining the transplant list and being discharged with a portable IV pump and external defibrillator vest.
I was extremely fortunate that my mom was able (and willing) to put her life in Atlanta on hold to care for me during my initial extended hospitalization and for long periods of time thereafter. In addition to my mom shopping, cooking, cleaning, shuttling me to appointments and otherwise keeping me company, I also needed regular nurse visits to maintain my medical apparatus.
The nurse assigned to my case was a true gift. In the most difficult period of my life, Amy’s kindness, positive attitude, professionalism and skill provided me the reassurance I so needed as I adjusted to being dependent upon others. She was a constant in my life for a tumultuous nine months until I received the gift of a new heart, and we remained good friends thereafter.
I cannot imagine better caregivers than my devoted and selfless mom and the unwaveringly kind and competent nurse Amy. Their presence made an otherwise untenable situation much less difficult. Many people faced with prolonged disabilities and reduced independence are not as fortunate. Most people can’t drop everything to care for an ailing loved one, and not all professional caregivers are as special as mine was.
That’s why Full Heart Home Care exists – to help as many people as possible receive the level of loving care that I received. Our mission is simple: to enhance the lives of our clients through compassionate care and customized services that meet each individual’s unique needs.
